SPEECH TITLE: Maximize asset performance and maintenance optimization

Giovanna Mangialardi, Ph.D. in Complex System Engineering, is an Adjunct Professor at the Faculties of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Bari and the University of Basilicata, and Research Fellow at the Department of Engineering for Innovation, University of Salento. Her actual research is focused on Social Housing Management, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Smart City. She is the technical manager of the B@ARCA project, and she is involved in the writing of regional, national, and European research projects. She also has expertise in the planning and development of urban territorial strategies and urban tools for landscape design, after working on the municipal (PUG of Martina Franca – TA) and regional (PPTR of Puglia Region) plans. Since 2013, she has been collaborating with didactic activities of Urban Planning at the Polytechnic of Bari. She is the co-author of several articles exploring the branches of planning and management. She qualifies Professional Engineer, awarded 29/03/2012, the qualification as Professional Architect, awarded 09/11/2012 and she is a member of the Engineers Order at the Province of Bari (N.9882). She received her master’s degree in Architecture and Building Engineering from Polytechnic of Bari in 2011.

Anna Osello obtained her degree in Building Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in 1992 and her Doctorate degree in Drawing and survey of Buildings in 1996 at Università degli Studi la Sapienza in Rome. She was involved in European projects like SEEMPubS and DIMMER.
Currently, she is a Full professor in Drawing at Politecnico di Torino and focuses her research on BIM and DIM for the development of smart city. Since 2015, she coordinates the drawingTOthefuture laboratory and VR@polito laboratory carrying out theoretical and applied research on the issues of BIM and software interoperability concerning data management for the digital built environment.

SPEECH TITLE: Il Dim – District Information Modeling per il risparmio energetico

Interim Prof. Dr. Sven Schneider
Sven is a lecturer and researcher in the field of architectural planning support systems. He is interim professor for the chair of computer science in architecture at the Bauhaus-University Weimar and founding partner of DecodingSpaces GbR. He studied applied computer science at TU-Chemnitz and graduated in architecture at the TU-Dresden and BU-Weimar. He completed his PhD in 2016 on the topic of automated spatial layout design from a user-perspective. His main research interests lie in the development of measures for evaluating the built environment and generative methods for supporting the design process. He was and is engaged and coordinating several state-funded research projects and has published a number of articles on generative methods for spatial layout design and spatial analysis.

SPEECH TITLE: User-Centered Design with BIM & VR-based User Studies

Dr. Alain ZARLI was formerly Head of the “Innovation Numérique pour la Construction” division at the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (CSTB) and in the “Technologies de l’Information et Diffusion du Savoir” department (Sophia-Antipolis – FRANCE), and further European Affairs manager in CSTB. He is nowadays Managing Partner at R2M Solution and still ECTP Secretary General. His main fields of interest are programming languages and compilation, product modelling, rule-based languages and knowledge-based systems, distributed architectures, software components, and technologies for smart constructions – and their broad application to the Built environment and the Construction industry. He has been the Project Coordinator of various FP5, FP6 and FP7 projects, including the IST ICCI and ROADCON projects, and the REEB project establishing a roadmap to ICT-enabled Energy Efficiency in Buildings and construction. He is in support since a long time of ECTP initiatives (the E2B cPPP, the “Energy & Efficient Buildings”, “Active Ageing & Design”, “Infrastructures & Mobility” and “Digital Built Environment” Committees) in roadmapping and impact assessment, and is now responsible for the development of the Built4People Partnership under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme too. He is acting expert for the review of European R&D projects on behalf of the European Commission and has been participating in the European Commission Advisory group for ICT Infrastructure for energy-efficient buildings and neighbourhoods for carbon-neutral cities. He has been acting as leader of the “Open Data” Action Group in the European Innovation Partnership Smart Cities and Communities (EIP SCC), and has contributed as expert to the EIP SCC Operational Implementation Plan, in particular in the “Sustainable District and Built Environment” Action Cluster.
